Thoughts on Gia

So I says to myself, "Self, why do you like Gia so much? She's a fairly minor character in season 2 of Veronica Mars, she tends to dress badly and she's exactly the kind of ditzy person who you hate in real life. Why have you written two fics about her, included her your mood theme and created a picspam in her honor?"
Reasons for my affection for Gia
1. She's funny. Most of it is unintentional on her part (she's not knowingly funny like Logan who thinks he's the funniest thing on the planet - and he's right) but still, her scenes make me laugh.
"It's like I'm evolving!"
2. She's not in a plot line that also involves not!rape and a coma baby.
3. She's nice to Veronica. She likes Veronica. She doesn't follow the herd in that respect (though to be fair, I'm not sure she could recognise the popular opinion if it came up to her and told her "We don't like Veronica so you shouldn't either.") She's sad when Veronica leaves her sleep over early.
4. She likes Logan. Now normally this would make me hate the character (*cough*Hannah*cough*) but Gia has absolutely no chance with him - hmm possible parrallel with my own situation?
5. She's not a complete ditz. She proves her intellect with her skillful psycho-analysis of Logan's character in 2.17 (of course any 12 year old who's seen the show could recognise this and then post about it in their blog (and they have *sigh*)).
6. She reminds me of other beloved characters. Namely:

Cher Horowitz in terms of the whole California-well-intentioned-ditz thing they both have going on.

Jane from the British comedy series Coupling. They look similar and are both first class ditzes.
Jane: I'm being stalked, actually, so I'm pretty secure in my attractiveness.
Susan: You're being stalked?
Jane: Is that so hard to believe?
Sally: My god!
Jane: Everyday on my way home from work, a man follows me. It's true.
Susan: Well, have you been to the police?
Jane: They said I was being silly and paranoid. I heard them laughing after I left.
Sally: That's terrible!
Susan: Well, have you confronted the man who follows you?
Jane: Well, there's no point, is there? It's never the same man twice. Sometimes they switch over when I'm halfway home. It's so well organized!
9. I feel sorry for her. She doesn't have any real friends at NHS and Veronica takes advantage of this in 2.07. Her father is revealed to be a pedophile and then he gets killed, so now she has to deal with the shattering loss of a parent but also the betrayal of said parent. The conflicting emotions would have to be overwhelming.
10. I see potential in her to be more than a ditz and if the writers were to reveal hidden depths, I'd totally believe it. Sadly, I doubt this will happen next season.
