Robert Frost owns me
Feb. 13th, 2006 10:53 pmFrost is my favourite poet of all time. Last night (well it was really very early this morning) I was reading a couple of poems from 'A Boy's Will' and I was like:
"Walking in the woods sounds like fun!"
So for about a minute I thought about going for a walk in the bush that is just up the road from us.
Then I remembered:
- I live in Australia. There are poisonous snakes everywhere.
- I live in Australia. There are poisonous spiders everywhere.
- I live in Australia. It's summer here and thus very hot.
- I live in Australia and am a red head. Will get horribly burnt.
- I'm incredibly lazy and hate exercising. Walking would constitute as exercising.
- I wouldn't be able to take my laptop with me.
So I decided not to walk in the woods.
The following poem really reminded me of Logan and Veronica on 'Veronica Mars.'
Revelation
We make ourselves a place apart,
Behind light words that tease and flout,
But oh, the agitated heart
Till someone really find us out.
'Tis pity if the case require
(Or so we say) that in the end
We speak the literal to inspire
The understanding of a friend.
But so with all, from babes that play
At hide-and-seek to God afar
So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are.
Don't you just wish you could write something like that?
