This is the first time this season I've been this excited about Veronica Mars! Plus, there were emo!sleeves!!!!



Ok so really it was that last five minutes which were so completely and utterly heart wrenching that this post is just going to be full of typos but I seriously don't care because even run on sentences seem so good right now!

I'm excited!!!! About Veronica Mars!!!! AGAIN!!!!

Firstly, the most important thing: The Sleeves.

The sleevage featured in this episode was GOLDEN. Screencaps are by _jems_ because I was too jittery to make my own.



We begin with our noble sleevey hero walking. Some people might say that the sleeves are pulled down because he is cold. Some people are wrong. Logan is suffering from great internal angst dammit! He needs to draw on the nourishing power of his sleeves.



Our hero is alert. He recognises his girl's car and his "Veronica-is-in-trouble-again-I-must-hasten-to-her-side" sense tingles.



He runs down the stairs. Manfully. Heroically. Sleevely (add it to your vocabulary people).



Run Logan! Run like the wind!

It's really quite beautiful.

I also believe that we have some season 1 clothing continuity! (Never mind that such continutity no longer makes sense seeing as how all his stuff got burned down).



The shirt he is holding for some random reason...



...is I think the green plaid shirt we first saw in 1.06.

It also featured in some very important scenes in 1.20.



He loves her because she's all spunky and stands up for herself.



Also, because she'll cut class to make out with him in the bathroom.





Ok I got distracted there. I'd forgotten how much fun memory lane is!

Also if they're bringing back season 1 clothing can I put in a request for this?



I loooooove this jacket. Please Sal? I'll forgive the argyle well Logan's second season cream jacket with the green piping at least.

No, I do not think it is weird to have an encycolpedic knowledge of the characters' clothing. It matters people. A LOT!

In other news yay! for the Fitzpatricks and Danny Boyd! And I was very impressed by EC, KB, JD, and CL. Also, Mercer is hot. And Vinnie? You my friend are entirely awesome.

Gotta say though, the A-plot was pretty meh. Still, the "No touching" Arrested Development reference was music to my ears.

Yaay! Awesome episode. I loved the Fitzpatricks. Liam creeped me the hell out.

I liked entirely different things about the episode though, but still... good one.

It's not that the beginning of the season was bad - I was just kind of expecting better. But now they seem to be finding their way a little more. Hopefully they'll keep it up!

I liked the A plot a lot. I liked the subplot with Keith. I giggled at all the Piz room-sharing awkwardness. I liked the drugging scene and Keith and Logan sitting with Veronica. I liked the emoness of Veronica thinking she just doesn't know how to love enough. I didn't like most of the rest of the Logan/Veronica scenes.

I saw the emo!sleeves and thought of you, Ben. It was great.

I'm not sure if that shirt is a throwback to the 106 shirt, or if Logan just happened to like plaid shirts and bought another one.

The end was just heartbreaking, and so powerful.

Next week might kill me.

I found the A-plot a bit annoying because of the actress playing Meryl/Meril/Merill/girlfriend however as it did bring us to the River Stix which was a very good thing.

With the L/V scenes, Logan's been lacking that intensity he used to have which has resulted in their scenes having a little less spark. I did think that both of them had valid points when he was confessing.

Also, has Veronica's curly hair been annoying you? Because I am in the same situation as her (school, work) and I do not have time to curl my hair every day. It's just a little thing that bugs me. Also in some scenes her hair looks very brittle.

Hee. I just love The Sleeves. I'm going to update the big picspam tomorrow.

I wish there was a better picture of the shirt. I'm pretty sure that they've used season 1 clothing after the fire before - not really noticible pieces just t-shirts mostly.

However, maybe the shirt was intentional. In 1.06 Logan did something really bad - the bum fights. Now he's running away from fires. Or am I reaching? ;-)

It might be the same shirt, I agree. I'm just attributing the return to Logan's love for plaid, even if it burnt down the first time.

Hee! I was totally going to post that Veronica's hair has been bugging me, but I thought it might seem a little too nitpicky. But I thought it too. I wondered how much gunk KB has to wash out of her hair every day too.

It's just too DONE and "night on the town" -ish.

But then again, I watched the last 3 minutes or so of Gilmore Girls before this and theirs was also overdone.

Unrealistic hair on TV makes me so mad! I am always mocking the perfect hair of Buffy, Aeryn, Sydney etc. It makes the show look sillier - real women get bad hair after kicking ass! Well, maybe having good hair is a special slayer power but still...

Plus I miss Veronica's season 1 hair. It made Kristen look Veronica's age. These days Veronica looks to be in her early twenties at least.

The thing is -- she's adorable in a pony tail. Why not just go with that?

My new fandom is BSG, and the girls there have seriously crap hair after battles. It's awesome. One of the girls even has a blood mustache (from being punched in the nose) for most of an episode. Can you imagine Buffy walking around with a blood mustache? No, her cuts were always kind of pretty, the heels never broke, and the hair stayed in it's perfect ringlets. Which actually worked for Buffy because it was so camp. But Farscape wasnt' supposed to be camp and neither is VM, so it's annoying here.

I love the realism in BSG. Today I was watching the ep where Kara has to eject from her Viper and makes it back to Galactica in the Cylon ship and she's just covered in all the blood and guts of the Cylon ship and it is so awesome!

Another thing that irritates me about Veronica is the amount of make-up she wears these days. Even when she gets out of the shower she is always noticeably wearing make-up. At the end of this episode when she wakes up and does the voice over about love, her shiny gold eye shadow is perfect despite having been asleep for the last couple of hours.

It just bugs me.

But yes, morning makeup is BAD.

Like, sure -- use foundation and powder and very subtle lipstick. But masses of mascara and eyeliner? Lip gloss at midnight? Eyeshadow after working out? Come on.

I totally agree. Her hair has been bugging me all season. Just looking at those season one caps make me miss that hair. Now it's always curled and perfect-ish, but the curly thing they do with her fringe always annoys me and it makes her head look smaller with all that hair.

MAYBE! what happened in the episode will prompt her to cut off all her hair again! ala the Pilot! (Or lets skip that hair and go straight to CWCD onwards, thanks).

She just look so old with her hair like that. I'm nineteen too and I do not have that kind of time or patience, unless I'm going out somewhere nice. But just for classes? Ponytail, thank you.

I loved the season one distraction. Aww, season one, how I miss you.

I'm not sure how I feel about the episode yet, I've only watched it once, last night, before I went to bed, and while I loved the last ten minutes, most of the rest felt very meh. Liam swinging Veronica around for like twenty minutes was really odd too.

It's nice to know that at least the sleeves maintain consistent characterization while also having a believable arc.

Sadly the unrealistic curly hair has been appearing in the promo photos so it looks like that hair is going to be a thing in this season. I would love for her to cut it short again though. Or bring back the cute pig tails.

I'm rewatching season 1 at the moment - it was so awesome! Why coldn't it stay like that?

Yeah the last ten minutes were what had me excited mostly. Liam's been creepier too - maybe if they'd cut the swinging a little sooner it would have worked better. Maybe if he'd swung her and threatened to give her a tattoo, that would have been the best!
