Veronica Mars, Heroes, Studio 60

I am in a twisted relationship with this show. As it downloads, I always think "go slower." I dread each episode so much but then it is never quite as bad as I thought it would be and it gives me a tiny shred of hope. Sadly, that hope is always crushed.
WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE TO LOGAN? SERIOUSLY. His character in season 1 was my favourite. He was so organic and funny and bitter and hot! For me, they've kind of written his character into the ground. While he was standing on the balcony I was all "jump!" and it breaks my heart that I feel this way but I really can't stand his character anymore. I'm so sick of his pathetic attitude. Why couldn't they have their mature break-up in ep 9, become friends and then get back together a little older and wiser? It would have been good TV instead of this which is just unpleasant and makes their eventual getting-back-together-again all the more unbelievable.
For the record I completely sympathise with Veronica. The confrontation scene was fantastic and I wouldn't get back together with a guy if he slept with someone I hated while we were broken up.
The A-plot was really good, but very sad. It was great to see some Christians who weren't raving lunatics (though yeah, there were a couple of those too). I'm opposed to organised religion and particularly dislike Christianity but I in no way enjoy seeing people of faith turned into ugly stereotypes. People should never be mocked for beliefs that give them comfort and do not cause harm to others.
I wouldn't have called Bonnie as a history major (like myself) but I was looking at her dorm room and thinking "I have that picture from that poster in a book somewhere."
It was nice to see Keith actively moving the O'Dell case forward and Veronica helping out. Why couldn't Logan be more like the Dean's son and get into the black nail polish and punk rock after Aaron died? (I really like black nail polish. I was actually touching mine up while watching this ep ;-))
Once again, where the hell are Wallace, Lamb, Mac and Cliff? Especially Wallace. I miss the BFF action. I miss everything about season 1. Including Paris Hilton playing a slut.
Anyway, here is another 'Team' icon:
Heroes 1x14
I was kinda shipping Peter and Claire before this ep but not now. I wasn't really attached to them - they just had good chemistry and I was looking for a reason to care about this show. The problem with Heroes is that it lacks heart. Right now these characters aren't characters - they're symbols and conduits for telling the story. The writers need to give these characters character and they need to give them better dialog.
This show needs to bring the funny. People like people who are funny.
Studio 60 1x14
Another really good ep. This show isn't going to be great like The West Wing or Sports Night but it is still enjoyable.
Danny and Jordan - moving too fast perhaps but they are fun together and their scenes are usually the best. I liked her magic trick ;-)
(Just so you know two of my family members are named Danny and Jordan; both are male. Writing "Danny/Jordan" hasn't gotten any less weird for me over time.)
I'm so glad we got to see the coyote.

Date: 2007-02-08 10:07 pm (UTC)As far as Logan: yeah, they've made him pathetic. Although he doesn't exactly ever act OOC (to me). It's just been this slow progression from OPJ to pathetic mopey guy. He is very different from Season One Logan, but it has been kind of a slow slide. However, it's just not fun to watch. I do think it'll change though.

Date: 2007-02-09 12:57 am (UTC)If this is what he was like when Lilly died then I am glad we didn't see it. I am fine with characters grieving and being sad - but when they do that and be boring and pathetic I get sick of it pretty quickly. I prefer Logan when his is passionate and angry with his grief - hell, I just want him to do something that isn't connected to Veronica but also doesn't hurt her.

I like the way they reuse the new people too but it is the old ones I have a connection with and I want to see them more. And the reason they aren't around is because they probably couldn't afford them and the guest stars. Of course, with in the context of the show, it doesn't make sense for them not to be around.
