It's a weird thing in TV and movies; women are allowed to slap men when they are annoyed with them, but if a guy does it he is obviously an abusive creep.
And you're right, it's such on non-issue on the show for some reason. Maybe it's the way it's conveyed or the power dynamics between them. It merits further thought.
I don't think anybody should slap anybody, but I cheer when he slaps her back (though not as much as when they start kissing ;-)).
