The Good Wife 2x01
Sep. 29th, 2010 05:20 pmThe Good Wife is back and firing on all cylinders. WATCH THIS SHOW! SERIOUSLY!
So much going on. Will's messages! "Kalinda" is not her real name! Jason Street: PI! Merger! Mentor! Alicia being fierce! Jackie and Eli having tea parties! Compelling case! Kalinda as chief executive officer of the Shipping Alicia and Will brigade! All of it = awesome...except Eli deleting Will's second message, the "I love you" message.
When that happened I was reminded of L.M. Montgomery's Emily's Quest. In that novel, Teddy wrote an "I love you" letter to Emily but his mother made sure that it didn't get to her, leaving Emily thinking that there was nothing between them so that she almost married Dean. DEAN! (It all worked out in the end, though.)
In term's of story telling it just seemed like the kind of cheap trick that this show usually avoids. When Will and Alicia first kissed and she ran and then she came back but he wasn't there, it seemed like a similar sort of thing was going to happen, but it was OK because Will found out that she came back and they talked about it like adults the next day. I don't mind that they aren't together but I am annoyed that things are bad between them because of miscommunication. The Good Wife is the show about communication!
But that aside, it was a great episode back, full of wonderful moments and I'm really excited about this season.
