So once again my laptop is out of service because my dog thought that the power cord would make a nice chew toy.

Luckily, it was unplugged at the time.

I'm sick, but I'm getting better.

My VM DVD's are not yet here. Sad.

I really can't wait to go back to uni. I need to do something.

I was thinking about 'Press Gang' last night and how un-PC is that, right after Lynda slaps Spike, he slaps her back? And then they kiss. Heh. Best show ever.

I wrote to Channel 10 to complain about 'Veronica Mars' being taken off, and they replied. It might be back on at some point in the future.

And finally, LJ is not emailing all my comments to me, so if I haven't replied to something you've said, that's why.

I know...he slaps her BACK ! That's not only brave, but for a kids show ?!? I can't get over taht scene even now, it's so sexual and manages to pull off what would ordinarily be a huge 'issue' (man hits woman) and make it flippant and fun and par of the course. You don't blink an eyelid until you think about it and then go....wow !

It's a weird thing in TV and movies; women are allowed to slap men when they are annoyed with them, but if a guy does it he is obviously an abusive creep.

And you're right, it's such on non-issue on the show for some reason. Maybe it's the way it's conveyed or the power dynamics between them. It merits further thought.

I don't think anybody should slap anybody, but I cheer when he slaps her back (though not as much as when they start kissing ;-)).

I don't think slapping is so acceptable now, not like it was in the 40's when it was seen as part of flirting ! Be a whole other thing now. It's just so funny because it's a kids show, and they're still teenagers (well Lynda is probably 19) and they're having this very adult almost Katharine Hepburn/Cary Grant screwball relationship. They're not arguing over what to see at the cinema or something, it's on a whole other level.

Ah, the genius of PG.
