Happy Holidays (a little late I know)
Dec. 27th, 2006 07:30 pmI hope you all had a wonderful holiday, whatever you celebrate, and that you got to spend it with family and friends.
My best wishes to you all!
12:10 PM-Most of the family has arrived. As usual, I have no idea what to say to my cousins. Have prepared plates of dip and crackers; turkey is cooking nicely. Sea breeze has come in, hopefully the heat stroke crisis has been averted. There are now four dogs here. Aunt Sylvia's two dogs are really yappy and annoying. They are going onto my Christmas hate list.
12:28 PM-Just got $40.00 from Aunty Andy and Uncle Tud (Allen is his real name). Love them. Before that Tud challenged me to eat a smoked Oyster. Was disgusting. I'm drinking non-alcoholic wine. The dogs have stopped barking.
12:58 PM-Conversation topics of my uncles: cars, oil rigs, back to cars, plants, cars again but more specifically Toyotas, trailers, luxury cars, second hand cars. According to my uncle Tud, who grows and sells all kinds of palm trees, the cycaid in the back yard could easily be sold for $500.00. Next time Dad goes away, I know what I'm digging up.
1:31 PM-Just finished eating. Was delicious. The stuffing for the turkey was particularly brilliant. I made it so I might be biased though. The turkey itself was fantastic. My grandmother (though she's not my real grandmother; we adopted her) saved it by insrtucting my mother to pour water into the tray so as to steam it and keep it moist. Yum. Dessert will follow in half an hour. Could really use a nap.
2:52 PM-Could barely eat dessert. I'm so full. Must sleep.
4:25 PM-I couldn't sleep. I threaded the laces of my new Converse high tops instead. Now I'm reading 'Seven Ancient Wonders' by Matthew Reilly. My Dad bought it at the airport in New Zealand and then gave it to me for Christmas. I'd do the same. It's really interesting so far.
Gifts so far include: two books, new shoes, Kill Bill Vol 1 &2, Clueless, Ferris Bueller's Day off, box set of Coupling, iTunes music cards, messenger bag.
