Ok so in our tv guide which comes with the saturday newspaper there was a negative review of the first ep of Veronic Mars by Cyclops. It goes like this:
'A type of morbid hybrid that alarmingly fuses The O.C., The Gilmore Girls and Alias Jr. After one ep Cyclops was plotting to send Veronica back to Mars-or any available planet. So anyway: the rich seaside suburb of Neptune is where high schooler Veronica was once really, really popular. Only, when her sheriff dad supposedly messed up a murder investigation involving her boyfriend's family, she became very unpopular-and a PI in her own homework time. I would have written something wittily derogatory about this, only my pen hit the floor and I was asleep before I could say: "Is there another cold one in the fridge?"
Clearly she didn't actually watch the show. How else can her writing such crap about it be explained? Veronica Mars boring? Disturbing often but never boring.
Upon reading this I decided to destroy it, though only this article because we need the rest of the guide (how else am I supposed to co-ordinate my summer tv schedule?). I grabbed a blue pencil and started to scribble on it but this didn't have any effect. Then I grabbed the liquid paper and totally obliterrated it. Later I regretted this as I no longer had the article and could not bitch about it here. I spent most of my shift writing letters to the editor defending VM in my head. Luckily when I got home, my dad had also bought the paper and thus we had a second tv guide.
Now that I've bitched about it, I'm going to burn the un-defaced copy. And Cyclops (who clearly suffers from Tunnel vision or needs contacts) is going on my shit list (a very scary place to be) and won't be coming off even when she later writes about how wonderful VM is (which she totally will because VM is awesome).
Some might see the whole burning thing as an over reaction on my part. It's actually a normal reaction on my part. I burned the newspaper when they took Stargate off. It helped.
Have I mentioned before that I'm a pyro? I am. But that barbecue thing was still totally not my fault.
