Suburban Sweethearts - JimandPam: Music, Picspam, Fic recs

miniorr has asked for songs that remind you of JimandPam from The Office. I've actually been meaning to upload a mix for a while but I am...lazy Scranton.

I was going to just post the songs but somehow we now have an accompanying picspam and some fic recs.




Song 1: You're my best friend by Queen

Of all the things I love about JimandPam, I really love their friendship. Unlike a lot of ships I could mention (Logan/Veronica, John/Aeryn) these two are friends first and they truly love just talking to each other.

Of course, there is more to JimandPam than just friendship. They are the current great love of TV-land people!

And so we have their first 'date'. A late night at the office leads to grilled cheese sandwiches on the roof.



Jim's so happy!



There is candlelight (for the bugs but still...)



There is food.



And finally, there is dancing - because swaying is dancing.

Christmas is a time for telling people how you feel about them...or not. For this phase of their relationship I love Wilco's I'm the man who loves you.

Jim believes in Pam more than anyone else - even Pam herself. Never is this more clearly demonstrated than when Pam learns about a graphic design course.



Jim immediately tells her she should do it, before Roy talks her out of it.



Jim is so disappointed and slightly disgusted with her for not taking her chance.

His desire for Pam to take chance he himself is not yet willing to take is perfectly summed up in Josh Rouse's Suburban Sweetheart.

I have two songs for just this one episode. The first is Indefinitely by Travis. It was while listening to this song that I realised that Jim is the new Lloyd Dobler. For real.

The second is DeVotchKa's cover of Somethin' Stupid which is just lovely.

Pam says no and Jim leaves Scranton. For the first couple of Stamford eps I like Going Out by The Perishers.

As Jim attempts to move on with Karen I can't not listen to Rufus Wainwright's Foolish Love. It is sublime.

And yet Jim can not move on. He still has feelings for Pam and it's clear to himself and Karen. So after JimandPam's prank on Andy I added Josh Rouse's Nothing Gives Me Pleasure.

So that's the extent of my JimandPam playlist for now. Hopefully the coming episodes will cause me to add more to it.

O*F*F*I*C*E by annakovsky - This was actually the first Office fic I read. Takes the pet fandom theory that Dwight and Angela are the new Major Frank Burns and Hotlips Houlihan and sends the entire gang to Korea. And it totally works.

Pack up your bags, it's never too late! by kyrafic and annakovsky - Jim and Pam go to a conference, pretending to be married. Awesomeness ensues.

Five Games of Truth or Dare Jim and Pam Never Played by kyrafic andannakovsky - Full of UST and then ST.

Sick Day by disney711 - Email!fic is pretty popular in this fandom but it works excellently here.

Four Things That Never Happened to Jim and Pam by uhmidont - The first is especially good.

Borneo by sophia_helix - Jim leaves Pam a bunch of messages as Michael and Dwight annoy him.

You Bet Your Life by sophia_helix - Excellent future fic as JimandPam leave Scranton and get married.
