Lord of the Rings+Veronica Mars+MS Paint=This

MS Paint. It leads to interesting things.

So this idea came to me because in his Veronica Mars recaps at TWoP, Couch Baron started off calling Beaver 'Frodo.' I was going to MS Paint Beav's head onto Frodo's body.

Then I began seriously comparing Veronica Mars to the Lord of the Rings trillogy (movies, not books). And I saw many interesting character parrallels.

Beaver was Frodo of course but mainly because of physical appearance but one could fanwank that Frodo's quest to destroy the ring is not dissimilar to Beaver's quest to destroy his father's marriage.

Originally Logan was going to be Aragorn, but Veronica has blonde hair not black so she couldn't be Arwen and that just made my poor shipper heart cry.

 

So Logan became Faramir because that way Veronica could be Eowyn and that actually made sense because both Faramir and Logan have Daddy issues and both their father's like to burn people alive.

 Which made Aaron, Denethor.

And Veronica is so the shield maiden of Rohan.

Keith became King Theoden because..duh.

I wondered who Weevil would be and then it came to me: Eomer, Eowyn's brother.

He is the leader of the Rohirrim (bunch of guys who ride around on horses) which is very similar to being leader of a biker gang.

Wallace was also hard. In the end I decided he could be Merry because Merry has a special relationship with Eowyn.

They both go off to war together when nobody wants them to.

Originally Duncan was going to be Treebeard (do I have to explain that joke?).

Then I settled on Boromir because he is kinda noble (first season at least) but he is eventually over come by the power of the ring (anti-depressents).

Casey was the only person pretty enough to be Legolas.

I made Clemmons Gandalf, especially after seeing the way he manipulated Veronica in 2.09.

Lilly became Galadrial because Galadrial appears and helps Frodo on his quest in the same way Lilly appears to Veronica.

"This task was appointed to you, and if you do not find a way, no one will."

Finally, I was left with Aragorn and Arwen. Who has black hair? Gia.

Scary.

So Gia was going to be Arwen.

Which would make Dick, Aragorn. My God. I hate myself for making this comparison.

And Woody Goodman Elrond. I should be shot at dawn for doing that.

Naturally, good taste and my memory prevailed. I remembered that Veronica looked pretty good in a black wig so she could be Arwen.

And Logan also suited Aragorn because he has to accept his future and mature and stuff and Keith and Elrond have the same over-protective thing going on.

 

So there I was with my clever clever plan. However when I sat down to do this it turned out to be fucking hard. I was working with MS Paint which is really much better for defacing pics of people I don't like.

In the end I only did two, Beaver as Frodo and Logan as Faramir. And they both kinda suck.

Logan as Faramir fleeing Orcs in Osgiliath. Blame me.

 

So there you go. Veronica Mars and The Lord of the Rings. Who'd a thunkd it? Well me for a start. And maybe you as well now.

I was calling Beaver 'poor man's Frodo' in season 1 but in season 2 he's got too much powder, lipstick and eye make up :D He's gone all She-Goth

Ha! I was pointed in this direction by irmak.
This is the first time I've seen VM compared to something other than BtVS and...I have to admit that now I think it would really work. And...kind of want to see it.

I think you can compare VM to most things if you dig deep enough.

I think I have to vote for Logan as Faramir b/c Faramir is my fave guy in LotR and I love, love, love him and Eowyn. :-) But than I obviously love Arwen since that's my wonderful doggie's name. :-) Oh, this was just delightful!
